The Youth Law Academy (YLA) is seeking students entering the 10th grade in fall 2012!

The YLA accepts applications from current 9th graders that are interested in attending college and exploring the field of law.  Students attend workshops on Street Law and Ethnic Studies and the Law, and receive SAT test preparation, mentorship, and much more.  Upon completion of the high school program, YLA students will be eligible to receive a scholarship of up to $5,000 towards college.

The YLA is a three-year intensive after-school program for Oakland teens designed to help them achieve academic excellence and pursue educational and professional opportunities in the law.  The YLA provides ongoing support and case management through college.

As a student of color in the Oakland, I have already surpassed many barriers and obstacles in my life. This program has helped me so much.” – Richard Hervey, Jr.
