Attorney Training in Cooperation with East Bay La Raza Lawyers Association
Centro Legal de la Raza and East Bay La Raza Lawyers Association are teaming up to help immigrant families that might be threatened with deportation create emergency plans related to child custody and financial matters.
The morning of Saturday, March 18, 2017, at 10am, Ruben Sundeen and Erlinda Castro will be training volunteer attorneys in how to help explain and prepare the relevant paperwork with immigrant families at upcoming community know-your-rights events and intake clinics with Centro Legal. The training will also include a brief presentation on the child dependency system and on the immigration executive orders and implementation memos issued by the Trump administration.
The first opportunity to volunteer to assist immigrant families with these plans will be in Oakland on March 23, 2017 at 6pm.
If you’re interested in volunteering, please plan to attend the training on March 18, 2017 and RSVP to email@example.com by March 8. When RSVP-ing, please indicate if you speak a language other than English.
Volunteer Interpreter Training
In the wake of our political climate, Centro Legal needs benevolent volunteer interpreters now more than ever to effectively defend our clients from deportation and help them find refuge in the United States.
We invite you to attend our volunteer interpreter training on Tuesday, March 7th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The training will be very informative for new volunteers to learn a bit more about the community we serve, the asylum process, and the vital role volunteer interpreters hold in advocating for our immigrant community.
Training will be held at: The Unity Council located at 1900 Fruitvale Avenue, 3rd Floor, Oakland, CA 94601
If you are able to attend please do RSVP via email to Andres Albarran at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you are not able to attend the training, but are still interested in volunteering with Centro Legal please contact us to receive an invitation to our next training (TBA).
