Marina Garcia joined Centro Legal in January 2015 as an Immigration Project Paralegal focusing on the surge of unaccompanied minors and families placed in expedited deportation proceedings. Marina received her B.A. from CSU Monterey Bay where she double majored in Visual and Public Art and Global Studies. While in college, Marina worked at Youth Alive, a year-round academic support and recreational program for children, where she participated and led youth outreach efforts in two migrant farm worker camps in Soledad, CA. Marina later went on to work as the Volunteer Program Manager with the Boys and Girls Club of Santa Cruz where she developed and managed a bilingual literacy program to meet the needs of the Latino immigrant population. Most recently, Marina spent a year abroad traveling throughout South America and teaching English and Art at a bilingual school in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Marina is glad to be back in her native Bay Area and is passionate about continuing to work with Latino immigrant youth and families.
